Riley + Mae // Chicago Elopement

No words can accurately describe what this day meant not only to me but to Riley and Mae. For starters they picked this particular Monday afternoon, June 3rd, because it was 9 years ago on the same day that they started dating in high school. I know both of them technically from middle school, we are all from the same hometown. This was my first elopement, my first city hall wedding AND my first time getting to shoot a wedding in the city (more coming this season though!) Such an incredible day, the weather was amazing, they were so excited and I just got to adventure around the city before and after the ceremony with them.

Terra + William // Engagement Session

Terra and William are getting married in July and I am very excited to capture their day! They actually already had an engagement session with someone else but when I met up with them to go over details I asked if they would be down for a mini session with me! Engagement sessions are a great way for the couple and myself to get know each other and to get a feel for how things will go on the wedding day!

Mikaela + Dillon // Wedding Film

A beautiful Christ centered day was the focus of Mikaela and Dillons wedding. The ceremony was officiated by her father and in the church that she grew up in, I found that so beautiful. My favorite moments from their day was when we went to the pasture right besides the house Mikaela grew up in, the light was beautiful and the horses in the pasture made for a truly magical time. Letting them have some alone time is always a sweet moment!

Maura + Jon // Wedding Film

Maura and Jon’s big day was in early October in Northern Indiana. It was a party from the moment I saw the groomsmen getting ready to the reception. There was so much joy throughout the entire day, Jon and Maura were so excited to celebrate them becoming husband and wife and so was their wedding party. My favorite moments was during portraits one of the groomsmen ran to a store by the venue and bought s cheap bottle of champagne for an epic shot that was the perfect way to end photos and start the recaption. Family was so important to both of them, both Maura’s sister and Jon’s brother gave wonderful speeches, during Jon’s brothers there was moments I was crying from laughter, so funny!

Lauren + Alex // Engagement Session

When Lauren contacted me about an engagement session I was beyond excited, she only had one request, that we all went to Eastern Illinois University where they met, where I went and how Lauren and I know each other. Lauren and Alex met while she was working at the Panther Pantry in the union. Alex came in for a drink one day and as Lauren said “he was holding up my line” trying to talk to me. Randomly that’s how Lauren and I know each other as well, we both worked their for a year during college.

Liz + Merle // Engagement Session

This one was personal, mostly because I'm really good friends with Liz and Merle. I met both of them in my small group form Church and thats where they met each other! Shortly after that I had a four hour coffee hang with Liz, thats when I knew we would end up being great friends. Two years later and here we are! The night they got engaged I was supposed to have drinks with Liz and I was waiting for a confirmation on what time we should go. Finally at about 8:30 that night she responded and said she couldn't have drinks after all and followed with a picture of her and Merle with a ring on her hand.

Lacey + Andrew // Wedding Photos

Lacey and Andrew met in biology class at the University of Illinois, both wanting to go into the medical field. They are going to be one powerful couple so so soon! Lacey had a lot of special moments planned for the day and when we video chatted with them about a week before to confirm things we were excited to get to capture so much! From their personal vows, balloon release, yellow convertible get away car, choreographed first dance and special bridal party I was a day to remember. Her grandmother helped her make her veil, she shared a special dance with her grandfather and Andrew's entire family was super special, his sister even gave a sweet speech at the reception.

Angela + Reid Walder // Wedding Film

Sweet, beautiful and most of all Christ-centered, those are the 3 words I would use to describe Reid and Angela's wedding back in May! I (Kayla) met Angela during one of the first few weekends that I lived in Champaign 2 years ago so it was an honor to get to capture her and Reids special day. Her father officiated the ceremony, it was beautiful.

Lindsay + Dre Brown // Wedding Film

oh man! What an honor it was to get to capture this couple. Not only was it held at one of our favorite venues in town Bluestem Hall, we got to tag along with Dre and his groomsmen at Memorial Stadium since he and most of his groomsmen are apart of the Fighting Illini football team! This group was a blast and everyone was genuinely excited for Lindsay and Dre from the moment we started capturing the day to the very last song.

Graduation Lifestyle Session

Living in a university town there are always lots of young people wanting captured, and lots of milestones happening. I met Hannah at church a couple years ago and have been friends ever since. It was fun to walk around the main quad at the University of Illinois with her group. The Blind Pig hold a lot of memories for them all, as Mug Club was always a reason to take a study break!
